Greetings Friends,
Thank you for visiting our website! We hope as you look around our growing website you will find all the necessary information you may need to become acquainted with New Harvest Baptist Church. We have been serving the Body of Christ in the Caneyville, KY community for multiple decades desiring to reach the area for Christ, and to further equip the Body of Christ.
One of the main thrusts of New Harvest is Honoring the Word of God One Verse at a Time by teaching the transforming trues of Scripture. We consider teaching and preaching the Word of God in an expository manner as essential for accurately handling the Word of Truth. Preaching and teaching the Scriptures will be preeminent at New Harvest, and by preaching we specifically mean expository preaching. Expository preaching can be defined as explaining Scripture by setting forth its meaning, clarifying what is difficult to understand, and making appropriate application
(Nehemiah 8:8). This will come predominately from selecting Bible books and then teaching them in a verse-by-verse manner, paying close attention to the historical-grammatical aspects of each passage. The Church must center its life and focus upon the preaching of God’s Word. This preaching will be most prominently featured in its Sunday services, but will also be pervasive in all aspects of our ministries. The clear result of this crucial aspect of ministry is ultimately the maturing of the saints for the work of ministry.
Let me take a moment to allow our name to further describe who we are. While our name reflects us as being Baptist, the word “Baptist” is shorthand to describe eightdoctrinal distinctives historically rooted in Scripture. Briefly stated these are The Biblical Authority of Scripture, the autonomy of the local church, the priesthood of all believers reflecting the truth each believer has access to God and is not in need of a priestly go-between, the two ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, individual soul liberty highlighting the believers privilege to live according to a biblically informed conscience, a saved baptized church membership, the two offices of Pastor/Elder and Deacon, and lastly the separation of church and state. Lastly, our name reflects we are a Church. The word—church—means,“the called out ones.” Accordingly, we are those who have been called out of darkness by the power of God into the light of His kingdom. We have been drawn by the Spirit into fellowship with Christ. We are in the world, but no longer of the world. We are the church—the called out ones. We are all far from perfect as New Harvest is a gathering of saved sinners seeking to be holy as our Father is holy. New Harvest Baptist Church—this is our name. But it is more than merely a name. We are a congregation who have been redeemed by Christ, who support one another in loving fellowship, who are called out of the world to be the church of God.
We hope you find the information contained on the website helpful. Of a greater importance to us is that you would come and share our vision and joy of glorifying God in this work of God’s grace. If I can help you or serve you in any way please feel free to contact me through the e-mail, or phone number on this site. May God draw you near unto Himself as you seek to grow in the knowledge and grace of Christ.
